Umami “Professionally Cut” Brussel Sprouts

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 bunch of organic Brussel sprouts
  • A few sprays of Coconut or Avocado Oil Spray
  • Generous dashes of Trader Joes Umami Seasoning Blend
  • Salt + Peper to Taste

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat over to 385 degrees
  • Pull out a sheet pan/line with parchment/spray with oil spray
  • Rinse the brussels and pull out a cutting board/knife.
  • To “professionally” cut the brussels:
    1. Barely cut off the stem
    2. Cut through the core, but only to the top of the core – do not fully cut the Brussel sprout in half
    3. Stick your finger in the cut within the core and pull apart the Brussel
    4. If it it still large, make another cut within the core and repeat
  • Spread brussels out on prepared pan
  • Generously spray with oil spray
  • Sprinkles on generous dashes of the Umami blend, salt and pepper.
  • To get a nice char on the brussels, place them all face down (white/pale side down)
  • Bake for 20 minutes
  • Check/turn over brussels if they have a nice roast to them. If not, keep cooking face side down.
  • Once they have a nice brown char on the face, turn up the oven to 400
  • Turn over all of the brussels so they are face-side up. I usually add more seasoning during this step too.
  • Bake for 5-10 more minutes. You’ll probably have baked them for a total of around 30-35 minutes.
  • Enjoy!!
